The Central European Hydrogen Corridor (CEHC), comprising GTSOUA, eustream, NET4GAS, and Open Grid Europe, has joined the „Ukraine-EU Hydrogen Corridor“ initiative as a key partner. This broader initiative integrates upstream hydrogen production, midstream transport, and downstream consumption, storage, and trade along the corridor connecting Ukraine and Central Europe.

The CEHC, focused on developing and repurposing infrastructure for hydrogen transport, complements the Ukraine-EU Hydrogen Corridor by enabling the efficient movement of hydrogen through Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Germany. Together, these initiatives aim to establish a fully integrated hydrogen value chain to enhance European energy security, support the EU’s energy transition, and contribute to Ukraine’s economic recovery and green development.

The Memorandum of Understanding for the “Ukraine-EU Hydrogen Corridor” initiative was signed by several stakeholders including Stadtwerke München, Wien Energie, bayernets, CWP Europe, Hydrogen Ukraine, H2Global Foundation alongside CEHC partners. The partnership aims to harness Ukraine’s renewable energy potential for hydrogen production. This hydrogen will be transported via pipelines to Central Europe, with CEHC partners ensuring the necessary midstream infrastructure.

Dmytro Lyppa, CEO of Gas TSO of Ukraine, emphasized the collaborative nature of the initiative and the long-term scope of the associated projects. This partnership aims to create synergy for the benefit of the region, and preparations should begin now. CEHC’s pipeline transport capabilities are integral to the success of the Ukraine-EU Hydrogen Corridor, which spans production, transport, storage, and
consumption.

This integrated approach underscores the complementary nature of CEHC and the Ukraine-EU Hydrogen Corridor initiatives, with both working in tandem to achieve shared goals of sustainability, energy resilience, and economic recovery.
